Who is behind Open Sky Incubator?

We’re a privately funded operation, created by a small group of entrepreneurs in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

What are your objectives?

To help increase survival and success rates of technology startups by:

  • Connecting entrepreneurs with trained, experienced professionals and enterprises providing hands on, interactive technology and business co-creation sessions and workshops.

  • Providing a facility that offers affordable co-working space, short term lease small office spaces, and meeting rooms.

  • Providing a forum for enterprise companies to connect with the local technology community.

  • Coming later this year – Delivering a modest rapid prototype lab, outfitted with industry-leading micro-controllers, processors and development tools required to help build minimum viable products (MVPs) and prototypes.

Who can benefit from connecting with Open Sky Incubator?

We can accommodate small technology companies with a clear understanding of customer needs, a strong technical vision and the ability to execute.

We can also accommodate individuals or small teams looking for opportunities to work in a collaborative space, learn from others by breaking away from their office and plugging into a community.

How are you different from the other incubation and accelerator programs in the area?

We’re a new part of the community. We aim to complement the established incubation programs in the Kitchener-Waterloo region, by providing interactive learning experiences for entrepreneurs, working professionals, and students.

Open Sky Incubator offers unique experiences, such as business workshops, and collaborative co-creation sessions using the latest technology from innovative enterprises and subject matter experts.

We also have access to a rare industrial playground, known as LOT42, which is available for facilitating just about any kind of event you could imagine.

Furthermore, we offer affordable workspaces, offices and a large conference room for the community members, and free parking.

What kind of co-creation workshops do you host?

We concentrate on collaborating with reputable enterprises and professionals to lead IoT-related workshops. On occasion, we will be facilitating other co-creation workshops on unique topics such as virtual reality, machine learning, and app development to name a few.

Business-related workshops will also be available, such as, business strategy and planning, pitch coaching, and financial literacy for entrepreneurs.

How much does it cost to be a member or lease an office?

Do I have to be a member to use the space?

No. We offer a daily drop-in rate for one-time or occasional users.

Can I host events in this space? Are local meetup groups welcome?

Heck yes! All groups are welcome, and encouraged to host meetups and group meetings at Open Sky Incubator. We even have a full kitchen for you to warm your snacks in the oven or microwave, and chill your drinks in the fridge.

Do you invest in companies?

No, not at this time. However, Open Sky can connect companies with compatible investors if needed.
